like pizza delivery.\u00a0 Educators (speaking for myself here) would do well to start with that frame, and to have a good think about how we can better provide our Learning as a Service\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The funny thing is, that habit of the \u201csage on the stage\u201d dies hard, for both the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">teacher<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">student<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0 So, as a trainer, teacher, professor, educator, how can you accomplish this?\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First things first:\u00a0 I\u2019m talking about a change in perspective and attitude, rather than a pedagogical model for labs, lectures, or homework.\u00a0 There are plenty of people talking about that, and I\u2019m probably not qualified to polish their shoes.\u00a0 So rather than \u201cflipped classroom,\u201d think \u201cflipped perspective.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the first things we can do to start with flipping that perspective is to \u201cframe\u201d things differently.\u00a0 Other articles on this blog will address, this, but the simplest place to start is by thinking of yourself as a<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> facilitator<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and the people <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">paying<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for your service as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">participants<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, or even <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">customers.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\" style=\"--awb-content-alignment:left;\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I believe I\u2019ve earned the right to an opinion on setting perspective &#8211; but since my whole point to this epiphany was to stop thinking so arrogantly, or like the single source of all important information, I asked for help.\u00a0 Below are some core ideas I\u2019ve gathered from other educators &#8211; ranging from K-12 teachers to technical and corporate trainers to professors &#8211; about delivering learning as a service&#8230; <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\"><ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First and foremost:\u00a0 recognize the shift &#8211; the educator provides a service &#8211; how are you making this service worth it to your participants (repeat after me: if you don\u2019t make it work for THEM, they will YouTubeItDude\u2026)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Like most services, your continued value depends on checking in frequently:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Asking if participants are learning what they expected<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Asking if what they are learning will be <\/span><b>valuable<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (and how?
